On May 5, 2017, the Mexican Agricultural Information Service Department updated the official data 2016/17 Mexico pecan production was 310 million 400 thousand pounds. This is not only a new record, but it is the third consecutive year that Mexico has surpassed the United States in production.

Up to March, China had imported 11 million pounds of pecan kernels from the United States, equivalent to 24.9 million pounds of in-shell nuts.During whole production season until March,China total imported 90.4 million pounds of the American pecan, kernels accounted for 27.5 percent of all pecan imported to China (including in-shell) , in the same period last year, kernels imported accounted for only 6.5 percent.At the current pace, China's import of the pecan will break a new record this year, and China will be likely to import more than 100 million pounds of pecan from the United States.South African pecan production will reach 26.5-28.7 million pounds.It is now beginning to enter the harvest stage.
